Infield Safety provide protective eyewear for Workplace and Sports environments. They are a member of the ESSILOR group of companies, a leading European manufacturer of Safety and Sports Eyewear and Customised Hearing Protection.  Essilor is the global leader in the manufacture of corrective lenses. Currently operating in 75 countries and having 60,000 employees, Essilor produce 500 million lenses per year.


Infield had an existing e-commerce site that was a number of years old.  It was difficult to manage and keep up to date, and sales from the site were slow and diminishing. Infield wanted to improve the site, with a strong initial focus on increasing retail sales. As well as introducing up to date responsive design, there were a number of other key areas of functional improvement that had been identified:

  • Better analytical information, and being able to track how customers use the site.
  • Improving the all round user experience, but with a particular focus on the purchasing process, and improving conversion rates.
  • The flexibility to also offer distributor / whole-sales through the same website.
  • To be able to easily manage, maintain, and add to the product range.
  • To be able to feature products prominently on the homepage.


A Realnet LeanCMS website offered Infield Safety the ideal solution. With LeanCMS, a high quality, competitively priced e-commerce website could be produced in a quick timescale.

Bespoke design meant we could offer a site with unique visuals, designed to stand out in their marketplace. LeanCMS also offers a full responsive, mobile compatible framework as standard. The Product Information Manager allows Infield to develop their online product offering, and the full e-commerce reporting suite allows them to understand how the site was performing and being used.

The Trade/wholesale package meant that Infield could also offer distributor sales through the same site. Pricing management meant they could offer the same price band breaks and volume pricing to their distributors online as they did offline. It also gave the opportunity to add further discount to encourage online ordering, which would reduce order processing time for them.

Our inclusive and comprehensive design and project management processes ensured that Infield Safety had a ready to go new website, with all their product and pricing data uploaded.


The new website is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous iteration, and its LeanCMS platform allows Infield Safety to manage their products and customers with ease. The website is now fully compatible with mobile size screens, and the carefully thought out product pages and basket sequence should see a huge reduction in cart abandonment.
